Rhythm Flash Cards (Set 1) | Rhythm flashcards for learners of all abilities.

This set of flash cards was designed to support the practising of rhythms. It is a very versatile tool to use in class. This deck of cards focuses on rhythms comprising the note values : crotchet, 2 quavers, 4 semiquavers and crotchet rests, in simple quadruple time.

There are 4 different rhythms on one A4 sheet. There are 12 sheets of rhythms. There is an additional back cover design which you can use to print on the back of the cards (totally up to you).

Simply print out the 12 sheets without duplex printing, laminate them and cut them into 4s .

With it we can review time values; introduce and work on composition skills; work on clapping and coordination skills. It is as useful as how the teacher uses it!

For me, it has been very helpful as a music brain break for my students. Some of the ways in which I use them include:

(i) Regular clapping game where I will draw a card and the student will clap the rhythm. They get to keep the card when they get it right.

(ii) Which is it -  I will pick 2 or more cards ( depending on the student’s level of mastery) and clap one of the rhythms. If the student identifies the rhythm, he/she gets to keep the card.

(iii)Compose a rhythm/ostinato. The learner arranges 4 cards and we will perform it.
